The Problem
Too many photos, not enough organization
Founded in 2008 by Bryan Park, Footprints Floors has grown from a Denver-area flooring crew to the largest installation company in the United States, completing more than 60,000 projects in 40 states since day one.
One key to their growth is their fully comprehensive model. Franchisees aren’t just getting the logo and a market; they have a full-time corporate staff behind them taking care of many of the backend things so that they can focus on managing jobs, building customer relationships, training their teams, and putting in the best floors possible.
However, with quick growth came a need to scale communication and collaboration across the dozens of daily jobs in any market.
Photos and job site documentation were always important to the Footprints Floors team, but without an easy way to keep them organized and accessible, photos and notes would fill up team members’ camera rolls, but they wouldn’t always get shared with the marketing, sales, subcontractors, or clients.
“When you start storing up hundreds, if not thousands of pictures, on your phone… all the pictures start to kind of look the same.”
The Solution
Centralized, organized, and accessible job site documentation
Rolling out new software in a franchise can be difficult. Up front, new tech might look like an additional expense or seem that corporate is getting too involved in a franchisee’s day-to-day operations. So Bryan and his team strive only to recommend tools that answer two questions: Does it improve the customer’s experience? Does it make franchisees’ life easier?
CompanyCam met both and more. By centralizing all photos and videos in CompanyCam, the process from first contact to final nail is streamlined for crew members and customers.
Subcontractors can see photos of the job before they arrive, so they know what to expect and what tools to bring. Customers also appreciate the detail that goes into documenting their space, giving them peace of mind in their decision to work with Footprints.
Marketing
Franchisees can easily add updated project photos to their website via Showcases and share before and after shots on Facebook and Instagram.
Sales
Samples can only show so much. With CompanyCam, sales teams can quickly pull up real-world examples of what that floor looks like in a home. These photos move customers out of a logical headspace (This could be expensive, do I really need this?) to a more excited, emotional one (Wow, my home could actually look like this!).
Production
Footprints installation crews capture photos of preexisting damage, material prep, and installation progress that they share with customers for warranty information. These photos help crews work more efficiently and protect them from liability.
“We’re not walking in blind or being surprised by something… [Crews have] seen the pictures, all the pain points that they’re gonna run into.”
Insights
More time back in the day to focus on customers, growth
Today, more than 90% of Footprints Floors franchisees use CompanyCam to document, organize, and sell projects.
Everyone, from Bryan and the corporate support staff to territory owners and install crews, works more efficiently and effectively, which leads to more jobs, more profitability, and sometimes more time back in their days to not be on job sites.
As prospective franchisees undergo the validation process, current owners often bring up CompanyCam to underscore Bryan and Footprints’ commitment to their growth, protection, and development as owner-operators.
“[CompanyCam] helps the customer, it helps the franchisee, and, in the end, it ultimately grows us as a business.”
