Before your phone lights up with leads and your inbox gets flooded with referrals, take a few minutes to prep your CompanyCam account. Our recent 30-minute class broke down everything you need to know to streamline your workflow.
You can catch the full class below, or read on for the highlights.
1. Add Users & Assign Permissions
CompanyCam works best when when your whole team is working together and collaborating in the same space. Here’s how to set up user permissions:
- Admin: Full control, including billing and account changes. Reserve this role for owners or department heads.
- Manager: All access except billing — ideal for operations, sales, and dispatch leads.
- Standard: Everything a Manager can do, minus user management. Great for project managers.
- Restricted: Limited to projects they create or are assigned to — perfect for sales reps and install crews.
Changing permissions is a breeze. Head to the Users tab on the web or the Company Dashboard to update roles as needed.
2. Track Activity in the Company Dashboard
Admins and Managers can use this Premium feature to track team activity, including:
- Total photos uploaded
- Documents added
- Reports built
- Checklist fields completed
- Last app activity
Use this data to coach your team, identify power users, and clean up inactive accounts.
3. Stay Organized with Tags & Labels
- Tags: Use these to categorize photos by room, material, or specific details. Pro Tip: Tag photos as you take them by tapping the tag icon 🏷️ in the CompanyCam camera.
- Labels: Organize projects by stages (e.g., Lead, In Progress, Awaiting Payment) or seasons.
Archiving Projects: Admins and Managers can now archive completed projects to declutter the Nearby Projects feed. Archived projects remain accessible via the Archived tab on the web.
If you’re new to CompanyCam, you might notice that we don’t have a traditional folder system. That’s because tags and labels rule — and folders drool.
4. Save Time with Templates
Save time and ensure consistency by creating templates for:
- Projects
- Checklists
- Reports
- Documents
Templates are a game-changer for owners, crews, and project managers alike. Plus, they work seamlessly with CRM or FSM integrations, so every project starts with your preferred settings.
5. Showcase Your Projects
Showcase your brand and create shareable content with these features:
- Logo Stickers: Brand your photos with your company’s logo for easy social sharing. Pro Tip: Use the free CompanyCam Chrome Extension to post branded images directly to social platforms.
- Showcases: Build a gallery on your website to showcase project photos, timelines, and scope — perfect for wowing potential clients.
- Dual Camera Mode: Use picture-in-picture to capture your face and the job site simultaneously. It’s ideal for TikToks, sales walkthroughs, and project updates.
Don’t Forget These Essentials
Before things get hectic:
- Save your Customer Success Manager’s contact info (email success@companycam.com to find yours).
- Know how to contact support: Use the in-app chat via the 👤 icon or find it on the bottom left of the web app.
- Turn on automatic updates in your phone settings to ensure you’re running the latest version.
