American Home Contractors is a leader in roofing, exteriors, and solar company based in the DMV metro area. Beginning in 2020, they became Tesla Certified Installers and offer Solar Roof products in 10 states.
We recently sat down with AHC Vice President David Silverstein to walk through how CompanyCam helps them keep all of their daily work documented, organized, and moving along smoothly.
As long-time CompanyCam users, David and his team tested a lot of features and workflows, so you can trust that it’s well worth it to get your team on board using these features, too.

Workflows to help AHC kick off projects and keep work streamlined and focused.
Software Integrations
American Home Contractors integrates their CompanyCam account with Zoho CRM. So when an appointment is scheduled in Zoho, a new Project — complete with matching customer details — is automatically created in CompanyCam.
David and his team also use SumoQuote. With this integration, their tagged and annotated CompanyCam photos are automatically pulled into SumoQuote, enabling their team to create professional, photo-forward bids that detail what work will be done and how it will get done.
They also upload EagleView and Roofr reports to their CompanyCam projects so that everyone involved has access to important info.
Project Map
When your salespeople are meeting with a client, do they ever find themselves scrolling through all of their apps to find projects you’ve worked on that are either nearby or use a particular product?
The American Home Contractors team loves the Map feature for this very reason. Because Projects are time and geostamped, their work automatically feeds into their company’s Map and is easily searchable by job type and location.
The AHC team also uses Labels to categorize jobs for “Tesla Solar Roof” so that they can easily show off their expertise in installing certain products at nearby homes.
AI-Powered Pages
David and his team also make use of AI-powered Pages, specifically Walkthrough Notes.
When they’re inspecting a roof or walking a property, they take pictures and talk to their phone, and AI structures their photos and notes into easy-to-follow docs that they can easily view internally to help them build bids or share externally with customers to give them a detailed look at what’s happening at their home.
Manage Jobs
Features to ensure quality and consistency on every job.
Checklists & Checklist Templates
David and his team utilize checklists and checklist templates to add a level of accountability and clarity to their work. With checklists, team members can go through each field, adding photos and answering questions about the condition of the materials.
They have dozens of checklist templates tailored to different types of jobs and project stages. These allow them to collect consistent documentation and ensure quality control, regardless of who is on the job.
User Assignments & Mentions
With the project created, the team assigns a technician to the project and a checklist to complete once they’re on site. This notification directs them directly to the project and the list they need to work on.
Their team also uses in-app chat to keep everyone notified of project updates. This workflow often gets overlooked, but it goes a long way in leveling up accountability, because the tech (and office team) now knows exactly where they need to go and what they need to do.
Annotations & Tags
Annotations enable them to highlight specific parts of the photo with icons and text, which are often included in their SumoQuote proposals.
Tags allow them to mark photos that require additional review, follow-up from another team member, and easily find key photos that they need to show the homeowner. Tags also make it easy for them to mark which photos can be used to create before-and-after graphics that they can share with customers to show off their craftsmanship.

Website Gallery
One of the main reasons people delay reaching out to a contractor is that they lack experience with roofing, flooring, or other projects. Their Google searches return different information about how long it should take, what it all entails, and more.
With Website Galleries, the AHC team can showcase both their craft and detail how long specific projects take, as well as what the products look like installed in real life. And best of all, it just takes them a few clicks on the backend to automatically publish these to their site.
Before & Afters
To concisely demonstrate the impact of their work, the AHC team uses Before & Afters to create quick graphics that showcase the high-impact work before and after it’s completed.
In the videos above, David creates before and afters for seemingly simple things — cleaning out leaves from the gutter and adjusting gutter spikes. But by taking the time to show their attention to detail to these smaller tasks through photos, you can understand why they have more than 5,000 Google Reviews, averaging 4.9 stars.
Speaking of reviews…
Reviews
Before this new feature, AHC sales reps were unable to consistently collect reviews because there really wasn’t a simple process in place to capture them.
But with Reviews in CompanyCam, they can easily request reviews and share a few photos with customers to include in their review. Since they’ve implemented this workflow, they’ve seen both an increase in recent reviews and reviews featuring photos, both of which are wins for their local search engine optimization.
David and the American Home Contractors team are all in on doing good work, and we can’t thank them enough for setting aside the time to help us make the app better for them (and all of our users) and give us a look under the hood of how they run their business daily.
