The CompanyCam MCP Server connects AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to your CompanyCam account.
Once connected, you can ask questions about your projects, review jobsite information, and make supported updates using the photos, comments, checklists, and other project details your team captures in CompanyCam.

What is an MCP server?
An MCP server (Model Context Protocol server) connects AI tools to external software and data. With permission, an AI tool can use that connection to access information and take supported actions outside its built-in knowledge.
When you connect an AI tool to CompanyCam, you can ask it to work with information such as:
- Projects and project comments
- Photos, descriptions, comments, and annotations
- Customers
- Checklists and task lists
- Tags and Labels
- Project Boards and Groups
- Users and assignments
- Webhooks
Your access depends on the permissions you choose when setting up the connection. With read-only access, your AI tool can look up supported CompanyCam information. With read-and-write access, it can also make supported changes on your behalf.
What the MCP Server does
Every project your team documents in CompanyCam gives your connected AI tool more job information to work with. You can ask a question in plain language and have the AI tool pull from supported CompanyCam data instead of manually finding and copying information into the conversation.
The MCP Server can also make supported changes when you give it read-and-write access. That means you can use a conversation in your AI tool to create Projects, update project details, organize Photos, assign Users, add Checklists, and complete other supported tasks in CompanyCam.
Ask about any job, get a real answer
Once you’re connected, your AI tool can pull supported information from Projects across your CompanyCam account.
You can ask questions such as:
- “What Projects did I update this week?”
- “Pull up the Johnson Project.”
- “Which of these Photos show the finished flashing?”
- “What’s the status of the Maple St. reroof?”
- “Write this week’s Project Recap.”
Your AI tool can also look directly at supported photos instead of relying only on file names. For example, you can ask it to identify photos showing specific work or flag photos that are missing tags.
This gives you another way to work with the jobsite documentation your team already captures. When you need details from an older Project or want a recap of recent work, you can ask for the information from your AI tool instead of opening Projects one at a time.
Build in CompanyCam from your AI tool
The MCP Server can do more than look up information. With read-and-write access, you can ask your AI tool to create or update supported information in CompanyCam using plain-language requests.
For example, you could ask it to create the Maple St. reroof, add your standard inspection checklist, and assign Mike and Sara to the Project. You can also use it to:
- Create and edit Projects
- Upload Photos and edit their descriptions
- Add Photo or Project comments
- Tag Photos and add Labels to Projects
- Create Customers or update their information
- Assign Users to Projects
- Create Advanced Checklists or attach task list templates
- Create and update Project Groups, User Groups, and webhooks
The AI tool works within the permissions tied to your CompanyCam access. You can choose read-only or read-and-write access when you set up the connection and adjust those permissions later.
Some actions aren’t supported yet. Your AI tool can’t permanently delete CompanyCam data or promote a User to Admin or Owner, and authoring or editing CompanyCam Documents through the MCP Server isn’t currently supported.
How to connect CompanyCam to Claude or ChatGPT
The MCP Server is currently in Beta and available on select CompanyCam plans. CompanyCam’s MCP page currently lists Core, Crew, and Scale plans, and you’ll need an Admin or Manager role to connect it.
Setup depends on the AI tool you use.
In Claude:
- In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors.
- Select Add custom connector and give it a name, such as CompanyCam.
- Paste in the server URL from the setup guide.
- Sign in to your CompanyCam account when prompted and approve access.
- Test the connection by asking something like, “What Projects did I update this week?”
Note: The connection works across Claude Chat, Claude Cowork, and Claude Code. If you’re signed into Claude Code with the same CompanyCam account, you don’t need to complete a separate setup.
In ChatGPT:
- In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Plugins.
- Select the + next to “search plugins,” then choose New Plugin.
- Paste in the server URL from the setup guide.
- Sign in to your CompanyCam account when prompted and approve access.
- Start a conversation and ask your first CompanyCam question.
CompanyCam also supports Cursor. Cursor and Claude Code can connect using a personal access token, with setup instructions available through the CompanyCam developer portal.
What to know before you connect
Access to the CompanyCam MCP Server depends on your CompanyCam pricing plan, permission settings, and the AI tool you’re connecting. Because the MCP Server is currently in Beta, availability and capabilities may change as CompanyCam continues to develop it.
Your connected AI tool works within your CompanyCam permissions and the access you approve during setup. You can also disconnect the integration or revoke its access if you no longer want the AI tool connected to your CompanyCam account.
