If you’ve been building the same documents repeatedly for client updates, site reports, or job summaries, you can turn those into a reusable Template inside CompanyCam. Build it once, apply it whenever you need it.
Here’s what you can do with Templates, plus a look at the other formatting tools available when you build Documents using CompanyCam.
What are templates?
As teams grow and projects move faster, consistent, repeatable documentation becomes critical. A Template saves the layout and structure of a document, giving you a reusable starting point for future reports instead of rebuilding from scratch every time.
You’ve got two ways to create one:
- Build a new one directly in the Templates Library
- Save an existing document as a Template
Templates help you organize information the way your team needs it. From daily reports to final walkthroughs, you can build professional, consistent documents for every project.
Customize your documents
Documents gives you tools to organize information, present it clearly, and move work forward faster. Build documents that fit the way your team works, with flexible layouts, easy photo formatting, and no design experience needed.
Custom layout tools
Structure and organize your documents with tools that help you build clear, professional layouts matching your team’s style.
- Cover pages: Build customizable title pages for your reports.
- Custom layouts: Arrange content blocks to fit your needs.
- Custom headers: Add headers to organize sections and highlight key information.
- Section formatting: Format sections with dividers and spacing for better flow.
Flexible photo formatting
Show your work the way it deserves to be seen. You control how photos appear in your documents, so your reports look consistent and professional.
- Using a layout: Insert square or original-sized images.
- Without a layout: Get additional image sizing options.
Formatting tools: add tables, text, and links
Get the right information in front of the right people, fast. Tables, text, and links help you organize key details and build documents that are easy to read and act on.
- Add and format text sections to share important notes.
- Create tables to organize key information clearly.
- Insert links to direct viewers to more details or resources.
Payment requests: add a “Pay Now” button
Simplify how you collect payments without losing control. You can add a Payment Request directly into a document, so you can request and collect payment without leaving it.
- Insert a “Pay Now” button.
- The link takes the customer directly to the payment checkout page.
- Request payment for invoices and more, all in one place.
Keep everything organized with folders
Everything in a project lives together in the Documents tab, and you can organize it into folders. Group everything related to a job, or keep the reports and file types your team reaches for most somewhere easy to find, instead of scrolling through a flat list.
One thing worth knowing before you set folders up: deleting a folder deletes everything inside it. CompanyCam calls this out in the confirmation prompt, but it’s worth building into your team’s habits from day one.
Getting started with templates
Templates follow the same simple process across CompanyCam. Build one from the ground up, or save an existing document as a Template, whichever fits how your team works.
- Create a Template in the Templates Library, or save any existing document as a new Template.
- Manage Templates from the Library: edit, rename, or delete them anytime.
- Use a Template as the starting point when building a new document.
- Template edits won’t change any documents already created from them, only new ones going forward.
- Templates save layout and structure only. Photos and job-specific content aren’t carried over.
Benefits of templates
Building photo reports and documenting jobs should be fast and consistent. Templates give you a better way to build professional documents without starting from scratch every time.
- Save time by reusing layouts instead of rebuilding.
- Keep documentation consistent across projects and teams.
- Build once, reuse often to speed up every report.
- Make onboarding easier with clear templates for new team members.
- Work faster with formatting tools. No design skills needed.
Templates are available on both web and mobile. Check out the Templates Library to build your first one, or open any existing document and save it as a Template.
If you already use Checklists and Project Templates, this will feel familiar and just as useful. Start using Templates to build smarter, document faster, and keep your team on the same page.
Big teams. Tight timelines. No time to repeat the same steps. Templates help you save time, stay consistent, and keep your documentation working for you instead of slowing you down.
