What is the Challenge?
Starting in 2016, the One Chip Challenge took the influencer community by storm. Taunting the fearless into taking on the world’s hottest chip, the One Chip Challenge inspired videos enjoyed by thousands globally.
So, what is the challenge? Simply put: survive the chip. Can you make it a minute without water? Withhold tears? Keep your eyes open?
Paqui’s chip has been reviewed by many online — leaving comments like “when it hits… IT HITS! I saw Satan that day” and “how I got PTSD from a chip.” The 2021 chip has two terrifying ingredients: the Carolina Reaper and Scorpion Pepper.
I was sweating in places that I didn’t think was possible.

So… about that stupid bet?
Having suffered through chip torture, Luke made a bet with the mighty five:
“If you last five minutes — without food or water — I’ll give you $500,” said Luke.
Who made it through? You’ll have to watch the video! Let’s just say it burned a fat hole in Luke’s pocket. Although one contender stated: “I thought I won a $500 deposit on an ER visit.” Worth it? [insert shrugging emoji]
Doing the damn thing and suffering through it put a PS5 in my living room.
What did we learn?
“The One Chip Challenge taught me to never blindly give in to peer pressure,” said Austyn Lech. Lech, you bring up a great point.
Grady McGuire said, “I was expecting the chip to be hotter, actually!” There’s no way, Grady. No way.
Grady also said, “Selling through my mouth being on fire was a tough task though. I had to fight the urge to wipe the sweat off my brow and focus on trying to sound somewhat knowledgeable. Ha! I wasn’t sure what the heck I was saying. After recording, taking Luke’s money was an experience I won’t forget. To have a CEO stroll into our office and hand out stacks of cash was a sight. Ha! My wife was happy to see me walk through our front door with a wad of cash!”
