CompanyCam gives teams several ways to build and reuse checklists across their projects. Instead of rebuilding the same inspection, installation, or documentation process for every job, teams can create templates and add them to projects as needed.
Industry Templates give you another option. These pre-built templates come from CompanyCam partners with experience across different trades and job types, giving your team a starting point you can add to your Template Library and use on projects.
What are Community Checklist Templates?
Community Checklist Templates are pre-built checklists shared by CompanyCam partners. They cover processes across roofing, HVAC, insurance documentation, employee onboarding, job site safety, and other areas of field work.
Admins and Managers can browse available Community Checklist Templates and add individual templates or subscribe to a partner’s collection. Once added, a template becomes available for your team to use on projects.
Some partner templates are available right away, while restricted partners may require approval before you can access their templates. If you subscribe to a partner, new templates from that collection can also become available to your company.
Checklists for roofing contractors
The CompanyCam Community Template Library includes roofing checklist templates that teams can use as a starting point for common roofing processes. Depending on the available partner templates, these can cover work such as damage inspections, siding, windows, and other documentation requirements.
A template can guide crews through the photos, questions, and tasks required for a particular job. This gives your team a repeatable process while keeping completed checklist work attached to the CompanyCam project.
Checklists for supplementing insurance claims
Solutions For You (SFY) created insurance claim checklists for roofing, restoration, and water mitigation teams documenting insurance claim supplements. The collection includes different levels of guidance so teams can choose a checklist based on how much direction someone needs in the field.
A more detailed checklist can give newer employees specific prompts for the documentation they need to collect. More experienced team members can use templates with fewer prompts while still following the company’s required process.
Checklists for HVAC contractors
From preventative maintenance to service calls, HVAC checklist templates can give technicians a consistent process to follow in the field. Checklist fields can include instructions, questions, photo requirements, and reference media depending on how the template is built.
Photos can be attached directly to checklist fields, keeping the documentation with the work it supports. Once the checklist is complete, it can also be exported as a PDF with its checklist information and associated photos for sharing or record keeping.
Employee onboarding checklists
A checklist can give new employees a step-by-step reference while they learn how your company handles different types of work. CompanyCam’s onboarding checklist templates can help you train new hires using documented processes they can reference while working.
Teams can include instructions, questions, required photos, and reference media within a checklist. Reference photos or videos can be especially useful during onboarding because they show employees what your company expects them to document.
Job site safety checklists
Abide Safety Company created tool and vehicle inspection lists that teams can use to document recurring safety and equipment checks. A checklist gives employees a defined set of items to review while creating a record of the completed work within the project.
Photos can provide supporting documentation for inspections, equipment conditions, and other safety-related work. Keeping those records organized can also support insurance documentation and help companies build trust with customers by maintaining a documented record of project activity.
How to access Community Checklist Templates
Admins and Managers can browse Community Checklist Templates on the web and choose which partner templates they want to make available to their company. You can add an individual checklist or subscribe to a partner’s collection.
Adding a checklist adds that specific template to your company’s available templates. Subscribing gives your company access to that partner’s collection, including new templates they add while your subscription remains active.
Once you’ve added a Community Checklist Template, your team can use it when adding checklist work to projects. For current instructions, visit Accessing Community Checklist Templates and Using Checklist Templates.
How to customize checklist templates
Templates give you a starting point for recurring work, but your company’s process can require different instructions or documentation. Admins and Managers can create and customize checklist templates from the Template Library on the web, and existing Classic Checklists can also be saved as templates.
Depending on the checklist, you can build the process around the information your team needs to collect. That can include:
- Instructions: Explain what needs to happen at a specific point in the job.
- Questions: Collect yes/no answers, ratings, written responses, or selections from predefined options.
- Photos: Require documentation before a field can be completed.
- Reference media: Give employees an example of what they should capture or complete.
- Sections: Group related fields and, when configured, allow a section to be marked as not applicable.
Template updates apply when your team creates new checklists from that template. Changes to the template don’t rewrite checklists that have already been added to existing projects.
Why use Community Checklist Templates?
Community Checklist Templates give your team a pre-built process that you can add to CompanyCam and use on projects. Instead of starting every checklist from scratch, you can find a template that matches your work and use it as the foundation for your own process.
They can also give employees more context while they’re completing work in the field. Tasks, documentation, and supporting photos stay connected to the project, giving office and field teams a shared record of what has been completed.
Give crews visual instructions
Checklists can connect individual steps directly to job site photos. You can require a photo for a field or include reference media that shows the employee what your company wants them to capture.
For example, an instruction such as “Ladder view — valley underlayment” becomes easier to follow when the checklist includes a reference image showing the expected photo. The employee can then capture their own photo directly within that checklist field.
Completed checklist information can also be exported as a PDF with associated photos. Admins and Managers can export individual checklist data as a CSV from the web when they need field names, assignments, completion information, and other checklist details.
Assign the right work to the right people
Checklist work can be assigned at the checklist, section, or individual field level. You can also assign multiple users when more than one person shares responsibility for the work.
Assigned users receive a notification that directs them to the checklist, and assigned checklist work appears with their other to-dos. This gives each person a clear view of the checklist work they’re responsible for completing.
Start with an existing process
Community Checklist Templates give you access to processes already built around specific types of work. You can browse the available checklist templates and add the ones that fit your company’s jobs.
You can also build your own reusable templates for processes specific to your company. Once you’ve built the process you want, your team can use the template across projects instead of rebuilding the checklist each time.
