Price Book gives your team one place to store standard services, materials, and pricing so every proposal starts with consistent line items. Instead of rebuilding estimates from scratch, you can quickly pull saved items into Proposals, helping your team quote jobs faster and reduce pricing errors.
Here’s what it does, who can use it, and how to set one up.
What a price book actually does
Every proposal has the same handful of line items behind it. Tear-off, underlayment, labor by the square, whatever your trade runs on repeat. Without a price book, someone re-types those line items and prices every time a proposal goes out, and small differences creep in between estimators.
A price book fixes that by giving your team one shared source for names, descriptions, unit prices, and unit types. Build a proposal, pull from the list, done. The price stays the same.
Where to find it
Price Book lives under the Payments tab in the left-hand navigation on the CompanyCam web app. Click Payments, then click the Price Book tab to see every line item your team has saved.
Creating and managing line items only works on CompanyCam desktop. You can save a line item to your price book from a proposal using mobile, but editing and deleting still happen on web.
Add line items directly
To build your price book from scratch:
- Open the Payments tab, then the Price Book tab.
- Click + Add Item.
- Fill in a name, description, unit price, and unit type.
- Click Add Item to save it.
Repeat for every service or product your team quotes. The more complete your price book, the less anyone has to type by hand later.
Save items straight from a proposal
You don’t have to build the whole price book up front. Any user can save a line item to the price book while working inside a proposal.
Open a project, click the Sales tab, then open a proposal and go to its line items section. Click the item you want to keep, toggle on Save to Price Book, and click Save Item. If a matching name already exists, CompanyCam will ask you to rename it before it saves, so your list stays clean instead of collecting duplicates.
Import a price list with a CSV
Already have pricing set up somewhere else? Skip the manual entry. Open the Price Book page, click Import from CSV, and drag in your file.
Match your column headers to CompanyCam’s fields exactly: Item Name, Description, Unit Price, and Unit. Get those four headers right and the import runs clean the first time.
Manage and update line items
Pricing changes. Descriptions need a rewrite. Line items get retired. To handle any of that, go to Payments, then Price Book, find the item, and click the three-dot icon next to it. From there you can edit or delete.
Admin and Manager roles are the only ones who can edit or delete line items once they’re saved. Standard and Restricted roles can still use the price book when building a proposal, they just can’t change what’s in it. That split keeps pricing consistent without locking your whole team out of using it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can create and edit price book line items?
Only Admin and Manager roles can create, edit, or delete price book line items. Standard and Restricted users can still pull existing line items into a proposal, and they can save a new line item from a proposal to the price book for a Manager or Admin to review later.
Can I manage my price book from the mobile app?
Not yet. Creating and managing price book line items is only available on the CompanyCam web app. The mobile app lets any user save a line item from a proposal to the price book, but editing or deleting saved items still requires the web app.
What happens if I try to save a duplicate item name?
CompanyCam checks the name against your existing price book before saving. If an item with the same name already exists, you’ll be prompted to rename the new item before it saves, so your price book doesn’t end up with duplicate or conflicting entries.
How do I bulk import my existing price list?
Go to the Price Book tab under Payments and click Import from CSV. Your file’s column headers need to match CompanyCam’s fields exactly: Item Name, Description, Unit Price, and Unit. Getting those four headers right the first time means the import runs without cleanup.
Does updating a price book item change proposals that already went out?
No. A price book line item is a template you pull from when building a new proposal. Once an item has been added to a proposal, it’s part of that proposal’s record, so editing the price book afterward won’t change proposals that already exist.
