Collecting payments from customers doesn’t need to be a separate task from your fieldwork. If your team is already using CompanyCam to document jobs, you can also collect payments without opening another app, switching tools, or heading back to the office.
Whether you’re wrapping up a job, collecting a deposit, or billing for a change order, CompanyCam gives you three flexible ways to request and collect payments from anywhere.
1. Accept payments with Tap to Pay
If your customer is on site, Tap to Pay lets you accept a contactless payment from your phone. Open the CompanyCam app, pull up the Project, and accept payment without a separate card reader.
Use Tap to Pay when:
- You’re closing out a job in person
- A customer wants to take care of payment immediately
- You’re collecting payment during a final walkthrough
Payment processing is built into CompanyCam, so you can collect money while keeping the payment connected to the Project and customer information.
2. Request payment from a Proposal
Proposals let you share project details with your customer and request payment directly from the document. Add the scope, photos, terms, and pricing when applicable, then include a payment request for a deposit or other amount tied to the proposed work.
Use a Proposal when:
- You’re requesting a deposit before work begins
- You want payment tied to the proposed project details
- You want the customer to review and approve the work before paying
You can also add a signature request to collect customer approval directly from the Proposal.
3. Request payment from an Invoice
When you’re ready to bill a customer, create and send an Invoice directly through CompanyCam. Itemize the charges, add Price Book items when applicable, and give your customer a way to pay online from the Invoice.
Use an Invoice when:
- You’re billing for completed work
- You need to collect a remaining project balance
- You’re billing for additional work or charges
Invoices keep billing and payment connected to the Project, so your team can see what was billed and paid alongside the rest of the job information.
Add project photos to support an Invoice
Project photos can give customers more context about the work they’re being billed for. In CompanyCam, you can document completed work and use those photos alongside the project information you provide to your customer.
Your documentation could include:
- Completion photos
- Installation or repair documentation
- Photos showing scope changes or job site conditions
Photos give customers a record of the work connected to the charges on their Invoice. This can be useful for additional work, repairs, or project details that benefit from visual documentation.
How to choose a payment option
The right way to collect payment depends on when you’re billing the customer and how they want to pay.
- Use Tap to Pay when the customer is on site and ready to pay.
- Use an Invoice when you’re billing for completed work or other project charges.
- Request payment from a Proposal when you need to collect a deposit or other payment tied to the proposed work.
Payment processing built into CompanyCam
Built-in payment processing lets you request and collect payments alongside the Projects, Proposals, Invoices, and documentation you already manage in CompanyCam.
With competitive processing fees (3% for cards and 1% for ACH, capped at $10) and Tap to Pay available without a separate card reader, you can give customers several ways to pay based on the job.
Collect deposits from Proposals, send Invoices for completed work, and accept payments online or in the field. Payments stay connected to the Project, giving your team a record of the job from the initial work through payment.
