Summer school is in full swing here at CompanyCam! Our customer success managers have been teaching live classes covering the ins and outs of our app to help our users get the most out of our growing list of features.
In May, we taught two 101 classes for office admins and crew members and two classes to help contractors streamline the insurance claims process with app features.
Here are some of the biggest takeaways from the latter:
Use PDFs over Links with Insurance Adjustors
When you create a report in CompanyCam, you’ll have the option to share it via a link. But some people, especially insurance agents working with customers’ sensitive information, don’t like to click links they receive through email.
That’s why we made generating a PDF simple:
In the report builder, click the big, blue Generate PDF button on the top right side of the page (on desktop)
Preview your PDF to make sure it looks the way you want
Click Download PDF, then attach the PDF to your email, and back it up in your files
Use Labels and Tags for Searchability
Labels allow users to quickly filter projects by job status, project type, or product used. Labels are handy when building reports because they allow you to pull up all projects using those labels quickly.
Similar to labels, tags are photo-level organizers that users can apply to specific photos. This helps you organize like photos together (e.g., all skylight progress photos from a project, all brown shingles from multiple projects).
Include Date and Time Stamps
With most insurance claims, you’ll need to include when and where photos were taken.
To turn on date and location stamps in the app:
Tap on the 👤 in the bottom right corner
Tap the ⚙️ and select Camera under Preferences
Turn on the sliders for Stamp date and time and Stamp GPS coordinates
If you didn’t have this turned on, don’t worry. CompanyCam automatically captures this data so you can apply it to past photos and any going forward. You can also manually add the date and time using the photo annotation tools.

Our live classes are a good refresher for experienced users and a great training for new users. Each class lasts about 30 minutes, so you don’t need to dedicate much time to learning something new!
Each month, we’ll host two 101 classes for office admins and crew members and two limited-time courses that dive deeper into certain features, integrations, and use cases.
