We spoke with Austin from Bloomfield about his experience using our app. According to him, the roofing and insurance industry heavily relies on photo documentation and photo reporting. Read below to understand how and why CompanyCam is essential when it comes to meeting those requirements.
What are some of the issues you see in the insurance and roofing industry in regards to photo reporting/documentation (or lack thereof)?
There are definitely problems. I will start with the roofing side — there is an issue with documenting through photos and keeping them organized. It can be tough taking photos on a phone or a digital camera. For the sales rep, going back to the office, opening the camera, uploading all the photos, etc… it is a long and tedious process.
For the insurance industry, it is extremely tough because every company has its way of documenting, and then the insurance company has a different way. So it is hard to be on the same page. CompanyCam has helped us with that A LOT. We can get answers in real-time.
What initially brought you to CompanyCam?
I started using it about a year ago. I had never heard of CompanyCam until I started to work in construction. But my company told me to start using CompanyCam, so I hit the ground running and have enjoyed using it ever since.
What was your photo process before CompanyCam?
It was going to a job, taking pictures on my iPhone, having my phone cluttered with thousands of work pictures, not being able to find any personal pictures, then going back to the office, getting on the wifi, plugging my phone into the computer, then uploading the images into the server. It was inconvenient, especially when I was out in the field all day and I’d have to run back to the office to upload photos. I tried using a digital camera (to prevent cluttering my iPhone), but it was annoying carrying it around.
Share an “aha” moment you had when realizing the CompanyCam app is a game-changer?
The “aha” moment was when I learned I could create photo reports with CompanyCam. In the past I’ve spent hours on Microsoft Word, pasting and importing photos to the computer, and trying to align the page with the captions. So when I found out how easy it was to select photos I wanted in the report, put captions in, add my company logo, then have the app line everything up — that was it for me!
Which feature of CompanyCam do you think provides the most benefit to roofing/insurance companies?
Being able to share an active photo link. This has been beneficial when talking to customers on the phone. I can share that link with them immediately and walk it through with them in real-time. I can also choose photos and email it to them. Or I can just email the link to them! In my industry photos and details are necessary. Emails have a size limit so sending them links is useful.
How much time do you save weekly using CompanyCam?
Oh, man! A few hours a week, at least. Let’s say it’s 2 hours a week. Then times that by 52 weeks! That’s over a hundred hours a year — that gives me more time to be on a job site or be with a customer!
What would you say to companies that are on the fence about using CompanyCam?
The amount of time I’ve saved using the CompanyCam features has definitely been worth the minimal cost that it is. Anyone who is trying to grow their business and make things easier for themselves would be making a big mistake not to try it.
