We spoke with Brandon Holland, a Project Manager on the Eldridge Roofing team. Being a big advocate for CompanyCam, as well as understanding the importance of photo reporting, we had no choice but to ask his opinion.
What are some of the problems you see in roofing in regards to photo documentation (or lack thereof)?
Well, it is the industry standard. If you don’t have photo documentation, you have insufficient evidence and cannot create a good solid file for that particular claim.

What initially brought you to CompanyCam?
We travel a lot. So that being said, there are only 2% of us in the country. TAF, the manufacturing machine products — they hold us to a higher standard.
We have to travel around the country. We go to a lot of conferences and a lot of trade shows. Mikee, the owner of our company, talked to a few individuals at a booth for CompanyCam and it piqued our interest. We looked into it — and then went with CompanyCam.
What was your photo process before CompanyCam?
We had Dropbox. And Dropbox is horrible. Very, very, very slow out in the field. And the difference between CompanyCam and DropBox is that CompanyCam has figured out loading photos in the field A LOT, like 80% quicker, than DropBox.
We were finding ourselves taking a lot of pictures and then not being able to load them into our Dropbox files until we were around the office or the internet. So the speed was horrible. What is crucial out there is speed.
So, when we moved to CompanyCam, it made a phenomenal difference.

Tell me about an“aha” moment when you realized the CompanyCam app was going to be a game-changer?
When I learned the system and how to edit the pictures! Whenever I am done with a full inspection of a home, I take 30 minutes to go back through all the photos and edit all of them. Then I am able to text my customer my findings. I lean more towards texting the report to my clients.
It is really nice because I send it, and then go back to the text and click on the picture report. I want to get an idea of how my customer sees it. When I am done with the inspection, I talk to the homeowner and make sure they know they will be getting a photo report from me. It is very impressive to these homeowners.
Which feature of CompanyCam do you think provides the most benefit to roofing companies?
Being able to send [the photos/folders] to the homeowners — getting it into the homeowners’ hands. Letting them see it for themselves. It impresses the homeowners because your home is your biggest investment and people take it seriously. The more detail they get, the more comfortable they are with understanding and trusting your findings and your judgment as far as you are asking them to do.

What would you say to companies that are on the fence about using CompanyCam?
I would highly recommend they do a trial run and see for themselves. I truly feel like they would be impressed and would end up using the program.
