It has been a while since we have heard from the HVAC industry in one of these customer blogs. So here we are. The people have spoken! Follow along below as Marty Henderson, with EnvironTrends Inc, shares his thoughts on why CompanyCam will, “almost overnight,” turn your whole company upside down… for the better, of course!
Tell me about EnvironTrends Inc and your role there. How long have you been in business?
My name is Marty Henderson and I started EnvironTrends basically as an indoor air quality company over 20 years ago. I have experience in the HVAC industry. My son worked alongside me for a few years but it’s just myself and a couple of trucks now. I’m also a Master Mechanical Contractor in Lawrence Kansas, home of the Jayhawks!
What are some of the problems/issues you see in the HVAC industry in regards to photo reporting/documentation (or lack thereof)?
I think it goes back to the old idiom: a picture says a thousand words. Customers absolutely love the before and after pictures. They like knowing why the project happened and what the remedy was. Nothing does it better than pictures!
What was your photo process before CompanyCam?
My picture process before CompanyCam was, without exaggeration, a nightmare! I’d have to save pictures on my computer first. Because of my pixel telephone, the photos would automatically upload to my Gmail account, but I’d have to save all those to my desktop. Then I’d drop in no more than three or four pictures into my QuickBooks invoices for clients to see.
If I had a big project, I would create a link in my Google pictures so the client could see the progress, but it was far more complicated. The old system didn’t do me a whole lot of good.
Tell me about an “aha” moment when you realized the CompanyCam app was going to be a game-changer?
CompanyCam became a game-changer when I realized the power of taking photos the second I step out of the truck. With CompanyCam, my world has been organized! Just a little logic and process, and now I have an understandable log of everything I have done/do and it’s easy to share with clients.
How did CompanyCam change any of your processes?
What processes?? Before CompanyCam, it was chaos… it was horrible!
Being that you are in a small business, do you think bigger companies would benefit from CompanyCam?
I don’t have multiple employees in the field, but if I did, I seriously don’t know how I could exist without CompanyCam. I am not a control freak, but if I want to bring on a couple of guys, it is now in the realm of possibility because CompanyCam has enabled a high level of communication. I could see myself managing more than grinding it out in the field.
How much money & time have you saved because of CompanyCam?
Since money & time correlate with each other, it is hard to put a number on it! However, what I do see is the potential CompanyCam gives my company when interacting with others. Because of CompanyCam, a handful of people can’t believe how professional I now look.
If one of my clients were on the fence about my work, now I have pictures to show. My clients are sending more people to me now!
What would you say to companies that are on the fence about using CompanyCam?
If you are too afraid to do the FREE TRIAL maybe you shouldn’t be in business at all… Enough said on that!

The absolute best innovation a Service Business could implement into their culture! I say culture because it is similar to how companies that make it mandatory for technicians to sit orange cones at the corners of their vehicles. It prevents them from running over a kid when they leave.
There has to be consistency within your business, and CompanyCam will do just that! CompanyCam is the platform that, almost overnight, will make businesses into something that makes sense to everyone!
A simple list of clients and addresses is worthless. A picture history of everything you’ve documented (from the first photo of the front of the house to the walkthrough photos to the before/after photos) is what will generate a predictable income. THAT is valuable!
CompanyCam can bring any technician “up to speed” with a home’s equipment after a couple of minutes of review. That is hard to even quantify that value.
CompanyCam will reveal a business that currently can’t be seen, with pictures.
